
Swing with JARM
Jasper Animal Rescue Mission
August 12th
The Jasper Animal Rescue Mission (JARM) will host a special showing of the May River Theater production of the musical "Swing" at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Ulmer Auditorium in Bluffton. All proceeds from the sale of tickets go to help JARM in its mission to provide humane care and to try and find homes for as many stray, abandoned, or neglected dogs and cats from Jasper County as possible. Many of these animals find loving homes in Beaufort County and elsewhere in the US due to the many adoption events held throughout the lowcountry.
The show will be preceded by a wine reception at Myrtles in Bluffton at 6:15 p.m. Wine is being provided through the generosity of September Oaks Vineyard in Ridgeland. A silent auction will be held at the May River Theater prior to the show and at intermission.
Tickets for the event, including the reception at Myrtles, are $35.00 and are available at a number of locations in Bluffton or by calling 843 836 2343.
Women's Healthcare Lecture Series
Bon Sain Complete Women's Healthcare and Low Country Healing Arts announces their new lecture series on women's health issues utilizing both traditional and alternative approaches.
The first lecture on Infertility will take place on August 5th, 2010 at the Bluffton library from 6:00-7:30pm. Drs Kristi Blessitt of Bon Sain Complete Women's Healthcare and Rahmie Valentine of Lowcountry Healing Arts will be presenting information and taking questions.

MAMMALS AND BIRDS OF PREY

A variety of Lowcountry animals will be on display and you can learn about their habits. Scheduled to appear from Oatland Island Wildlife Center are; barred owl, screech owl, flying squirrel, opossum and armadillo. Participants will have the opportunity to not only see these animals, but take photos of them as well!

"There He Stands"
A collection of Oil Pastel Paintings
by Chris Clayton

The Society of Bluffton Artists (SoBA) will present, "There He Stands", a collection of pastel works by the recently elected President of the Society, Chris Clayton. Clayton came to America from England in 1967 to work on the Lunar Landing program and he continued in that field designing aircraft engines. During his engineering career, his love of art compelled him to attend the University of Cincinnati Fine Art and continue fueling his love of fine art.
The public is invited to a reception for the artist on Sunday August 8 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gallery where refreshments will be served. HHI CHORAL SOCIETY OPENS 2010-11 SEASON WITH LABOR DAY WEEKEND POPS CONCERT
Start your Labor Day weekend with a "Summer Song", the Hilton Head Choral Society's annual pops concert, being presented at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Pkwy. This year's program features George and Ira Gershwin tunes, lyrical waltzes by Richard Rogers and a special tribute to the great movie musicals from MGM studios.
