Friends of the Rivers wants Low Country Residents to be River Smart
By Nancy Schilling
ear Neighbors,
The estuaries of South Carolina’s Low Country are losing their historically healthy conditions. We are losing good water quality and associated natural resources. Our property values are at risk. What can we do to protect ourselves from any further losses?
Friends of the Rivers is prepared to teach the Low Country how to be River Smart.
There is no one specific impact degrading our local environment. River Smart is a program that addresses the cumulative impacts that are affecting our quality of life.
Friends of the Rivers has information about water quality to share with you. A variety of education programs are designed for school age children and teachers; university students and educators; property owners and managers; businesses and workers; religious, civic, and non-profit organizations; and government. River Smart will provide solutions for protecting our waterways and how to implement them.
Friends of the Rivers is celebrating its 10th year of educating South Carolina’s Low Country about the value of good water quality. We cannot wait for local water quality to improve. Please take action and make it happen by educating yourself through the River Smart program.![]()
