THE ATTORNEY CHASE 5K
Saturday, June 7, 2008 8:00 A.M.

The Attorney Chase is a unique 5K fun run/walk opportunity. On June 7, 2008, runners will take to Coligny Beach at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront. As in most 5K events, the runners want to complete the course in the fastest time. However, LCLA felt it necessary to add another challenge. During the course of the race, runners may be surprised as out from the sand dunes attorneys will appear! The attorneys will be appropriately clad in suit coat and tie and of course will be carrying a brief case. Each attorney holds a crisp clean $100 bill ready to be taken (Not really – it is play money) the attorney is required to give the individual that catches him or her the $100. At race end, the $100 can be used to redeem valuable gift certificates. The race is great fun, and there is a wonderful celebration at race end. Participants receive a free t-shirt -- all winners receive awards. Entry donation is $25 before June 4, 2008, and $30 after that. Hope to see you at the Beach.

Textural Expressions by Jeanie Hooper

The Society of Bluffton Artists (SoBA) will present “Textural Expressions”, an exhibit of the artwork of Jeanie Hooper on exhibit through June 28, 2008.

This exciting exhibit features Jeanie Hooper’s collages on canvas and paper. Her works are textural and are very often inspired by nature. Ms. Hooper became interested in botanical images while taking a botany class and still enjoys working with the shapes of pods, grasses, ferns, and flowers in a layered composition of stained papers and paint. Hooper incorporates her handmade papers as well as palm fronds and other collected natural items in her collage work. She stains her own papers and manipulates collected papers in some fashion, often adding her own handmade stamps to add interest.

The gallery is located on Boundary Street in old Bluffton and is open Mon. through Sat. from 10-5. Call 843-757-6586 or visit the SoBA web site at www.sobagalleries.com for more information about the organization and participating artists.
