f your name isn’t stitched into your golf bag, if you don’t have a full-time caddy cleaning your clubs and providing yardages, chances are you don’t hit your driver or your fairway woods as long as you might like. The new Exotics drivers and fairway woods by Tour Edge are an excellent solution for added distance off the tee for any player. As Golfing Magazine recently noted, “Tour Edge Golf has been quietly establishing itself in the club-making industry as one of the best manufacturers in the world.”
The XCG Driver is an engineering
breakthrough that combines a magnesium crown that is twice as light as typical titanium crowns with a heavier hyper-steel body and a titanium cupped face. According
to Tour Edge, that combination
moves more weight lower and to the rear of the sole than is possible from any current driver on the market. The result, XCG produces
very little spin and a high moment of inertia for longer drives. “We were extremely pleased with the launch monitor results for Tour Edge’s new Exotics XCG,” says Eric Slinkard of the PGA Tour Superstore. “It has the fastest ball speed and lowest spin rates I’ve seen. Not to mention, phenomenal feel, performance and distance. It’s just a fantastic product. If you’re looking to gain distance and spectacular
performance I would start with Tour Edge.”
Local merchants are excited about their allotment of Exotics drivers and fairway woods. “The Exotics 3-wood is considered the longest fairway wood on the market,” offers John Ziegler of Pro Golf Discount in Bluffton. “Sales have been solid, and we expect they’ll be picking up this spring. They are a premium brand, so they are selling slowly, but steadily.”
Austad is one of the most trusted names in golf retail. Austad manager Terry Glen states, “The XCG Driver produces a quick and high launch with more carry. It’s a particularly solid driver because it’s extremely straight on miss-hits and produces an awesome solid feel. With the magnesium crown, we’ve evolved into another material beyond titanium which is exciting as a retailer - and meaningful for the general golfer.” Through a revolutionary process, the club’s three dissimilar metals are blended together. The XCG’s titanium face, magnesium crown and hyper steel body feature interlocking channels that are pressed together and combo bonded for permanent bonding without welding. The intrinsic quality of this no-weld process is unparalleled, resulting in a lower center of gravity and a pure energy transfer that’s not possible from a traditional welded club. Granted, for the non-engineers among us, it’s tough to get excited about this type of technical mumbo-jumbo. But you know what is exciting? Busting that driver an extra 20 yards, or using a super-hot 3-wood to creep closer to that par 5 green in two shots!
“Our customers have been very happy with Exotics equipment and we are very excited about their new driver release,” concludes Austad’s Terry Glen. “The Exotics fairway wood is one of the hottest out there. People have been excited about its performance and the distance they’ve gained from it. I think they’ll be very jazzed about the fact that they can now pull that kind of distance out of a driver. From a retail perspective, Tour Edge’s Exotics products have been fantastic. Our customers have been very accepting of them. We’ve been very successful with the sales process
and Tour Edge is a great company.”![]()
