“COASTAL IMPRESSIONS COLOR UNLEASHED”
Featured Artist - Tricia Gardner

“To paint it you must experience it,” says St. Helena Island artist, Tricia Gardner. “The light, the smells, the feel of the landscape cannot be replicated in the studio unless you have been there and become one with the scene.” Tricia is the featured artist for the new exhibit opening at the Art League Gallery of Hilton Head in Pineland Station on July 10. Titled “Coastal Impressions - Color Unleashed” will contain 20 oil paintings demonstrating Tricia’s experiences with predominately lowcountry subject matter.

The public is invited to discuss her art and travels with her during the opening reception at the Hilton Head Art League Gallery, Pineland Station on Tuesday, July 10 from 5-7 p.m. Tricia’s exhibit runs through August 10.

The Society of Bluffton Artists announces a Featured Artist Show of oil and watercolor media by local artist Stanton D. Allaben

The SOBA Gallery presents Allaben in a show entitled “Scenes From The Lowcountry And Beyond.”

Allaben’s exhibit will run through July 28 and will feature both oil and watercolor paintings of low country and Savannah subjects as well as some scenes of Vermont where he lived for over twenty years.

A self-taught artist, Stanton has extensively studied the works of both the French and American impressionists as well as contemporary artists such as Robert Bateman, John Seerey-Lester, Richard Schmidt, Ray Ellis, and Nancy Taylor Stonington. “My style is a mix of impressionism and realism done in a painterly fashion. I love to see brush strokes in my paintings in a way that effectively portrays the subject matter without burdening it with too much detail,” says Allaben.

The gallery is located on Boundary Street in old Bluffton and is open Mon. through Sat. from 10-5. Call 843-757-6585 or visit the SOBA web site at www.sobagalleries.com for more information about the organization and participating artists.
