THE JARVIS BROTHERS QUINTET
The Bluffton United Methodist Church will present in concert the Jarvis Brothers Quintet of Orangeburg, South Carolina Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 4:00 pm. The brothers, sons of the late Mr. & Mrs. Ulysses S. Jarvis, Sr., have chosen “Jubilee” as their style of singing. This style is named after the Fisk University Jubilee Singers who toured the United States in 1871 and subsequently toured throughout Europe. These spirituals were traditionally sung a cappella, unlike gospel and praise music.
The program will feature traditional spirituals and patriotic selections. The concert is free, open to the public and partially funded by the Arts Council of Beaufort County. A freewill offering will be gratefully received.
Bluffton United Methodist Church is located at 101 Calhoun Street, Bluffton. For further information contact the church office at 843-757-3351 or visit www.lowcountryarts.com.
