arilyn McDonald was born in Louisville, Ky., and attended
the University of Louisville. She has lived 21 years outside of the U.S.A. with
her husband Don.
She and Don have owned a home in Moss Creek since 1991, and they
retired here in 2000.
While in Brazil, she developed a love and appreciation for the
beautiful minerals and stones mined there. She took an introductory course in
gemology, and continued to pursue that interest after they moved to Hong Kong.
During her 11 years in Asia, she enjoyed traveling and purchasing Antique and
Ethnic pieces of silver, jade and beads and began designing necklaces around
them. She also involves semi-precious beads in her work. She has shown and sold
her designs in Honk Kong, Singapore, New York and Louisville, KY.
Marilyn is a member of A Guild of Bluffton Artists on Calhoun
Street. Along with her involvement with the Guild, she has 2 adult children,
their spouses and 3 fantastic grandchildren living in the area.
Marilyns newest venture with family, daughter Vanessa and her husband Orie, is a retail store that opened December 1st in the Tanger Shopping Center I. Fitigues Surplus will be an up-market clothing line for active women, men and children.
